FREE Fitness Video Tip #3, 30 Days to Lift Away the Stigma

Mental Health Fact #3: In 2014, One in 25 Americans lived with a serious mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression.

– Half of all mental health disorders show first signs before a person turns 14 years old, and three quarters of mental health disorders begin before age 24.

Something fun happened today while I was making my FREE Fitness Tip Video, #3. I was demonstrating one of the squat variations in today’s video, and I accidentally did something I had just advised you guys not to do! It was a perfectly serendipitous moment that demonstrated no matter how experienced we are, stuff happens that we weren’t intending to happen.

Kind of like life, right? So, although the video cut off at the end and I should have done a re-shoot, I left it, because I want you to see me, an experienced trainer making a lifting blunder. Bottom line, it’s ALL good. Whether we make a mistake in the gym or in life, it’s okay, and we should just move on.

And speaking of things that are OKAY, living with a mental illness is okay too, and something that many people deal with throughout their lifetime or for a part of their lifetime. Mental illness is something we need to start talking about out in the open. We need to take away the stigma of an issue that SO many people deal with in our country, from all walks of life.

By lifting the veil, and showing that this is normal for many people, just like my showing an honest mistake that anyone can make, we let others know it’s okay to have struggles and to not be perfect. We help people to feel accepted, and cared for, and NORMAL. That, in and of itself can help relieve some discomfort and angst.

And that’s why we’re here! To Lift Away the Stigma of Mental Illness by raising awareness and money for the Mental Health Association in New York State, Inc. (MHANY’s) and their mission to take away the stigma of mental illness.

This FREE 30 Day Fitness Tip Video Series is our countdown to real [FIT] life’s first EVER charity event. We’re partnering with MHANY’s to raise money to help Lift Away the Stigma of Mental Illness, and I want this to make a real impact.
